SHOTOVER works with customers, sensor manufacturers, and system integrators to bring custom cameras, lenses, and specialist payloads onto a stabilized platform. Our experience spans cinematic imaging, public safety, infrastructure inspection, and research applications.

Custom payload integration

SHOTOVER platforms provide options for a wide range of payload sizes and imaging workflows. The M1, F1, and K1 families can accommodate customer-supplied cameras and equipment, while the M2 supports closely integrated sensor, processing, and mission software configurations. We work with you to assess available volume, payload mass, balance, and the interfaces needed for your application.

Projects can include daylight and low-light cameras, thermal infrared sensors, high-resolution still imaging, long focal length lenses, and experimental imaging technologies. Sensor selection and compatibility are evaluated for each project, with an emphasis on making the complete system work together.

Mechanical design and stabilization

Image quality depends on more than fitting a camera inside a gimbal. We help address optical bench rigidity, center of gravity, mounting, packaging, cable routing, and servo control requirements. STEP models and mechanical interface drawings can support collaborative design with your team. Where an existing platform needs changes, we evaluate the engineering and testing required before defining the scope.

Electrical and sensor interfaces

Our team can assist with power requirements, electrical connections, sensor control, and the path your data takes through the gimbal. Depending on the platform and configuration, this can include fiber optic data transfer, Ethernet connectivity, and integration with onboard processing. Interfaces are selected around the bandwidth, timing, and control needs of your payload.

Software, processing, and mission workflows

SHOTOVER brings stabilization and mission software expertise together. We can help integrate sensor control and display, image processing, time-aligned metadata, recording, and video transmission. For applications that need geospatial context, AIRSCAPE mission software and EARTHSCAPE video workflows can form part of the solution. We work with your team to define how imagery is captured, controlled, shared, and used.

We begin by understanding your application and reviewing the payload and operating requirements. Together, we identify a suitable platform, assess technical feasibility, and agree on engineering responsibilities, deliverables, budget, and milestones. The development effort can then cover design, fabrication, integration, and testing as required.

Bench testing and, where appropriate, flight evaluation help establish how the integrated system performs under representative conditions. SHOTOVER has company-operated gimbals and an aircraft in Boulder, Colorado that can support agreed integration, demonstration, and research programs. Test arrangements and equipment availability are defined for each project.
